Jabir ibn ‘Abd- Allah al-Salami (may Allah be pleased with him)  said:
“The Messenger of Allah used to teach his companions to make istikharah in all things, just as he used to teach them surahs from the Qur’an.

Istikharah is for everyone, old or new, practicing or not. And its something we should all use more often. Its like our own personal assistant, its free of charge too. Allah [subhanahu wa ta3la] has blessed us with such a tool that we should use it as often as possible. People tend to have this notion that we only use it once in our life when we want to get married, usually the night before and when they’ve already made their mind up or when its too late anyway.

But as highlighted in the hadeeth it was the practice of rasululah [salAllahu alayhi wa salam] and his companions to make istikharah in all things and yes, this can include whether to buy that nicer but expensive or the cheaper but will do abayah. What should be on  a Muslim’s mind when he is faced with a decision should be, “lemme go do istikharah and ask Allah” and not “to do or not to do?” *smiles*

Allah [subhanahu wa ta3la] says in Surah Dhaariyat, verse 56:

وَمَا خَلَقْتُ الْجِنَّ وَالْإِنسَ إِلَّا لِيَعْبُدُونِ

And I (Allâh) created not the jinn and mankind except that they should worship Me (Alone).

Everyone has probably heard the purpose of life lecture or if not then they at least know (hopefully) that their purpose in life is to worship Allah [aza wajal]. But knowing it is not good enogh, applying it is even more important. And applying it in all areas of life even when doing something which may not seem related to Islaam such as playing football or doing a fashion show [for the sisters only of course]. It is important we return back to tawheed. Yes we may enjoy life in what Allah [aza wajal] has ordained halal but end of the day, we should seek his pleasure and know what our real goals is *smiles*

EID MUBARAK FROM DHIKRULLAH.COM

Alhamdulilah, Dhikrullah.com has two presents for everyone..well three really but one of them is already availabe on the internet and the other two arent. First up, theres a new recitation by the much liked qari from Jeddah ; Emad al Mansary

Secondly, theres a brand new recitation for the first time ever of Baasen bin Mohammed As Subayee that isnt from his now famous ayaat from surah nisaa. Its during taraweeh and its his recitation of surah Faatiha and Surah Qasas. Most people don’t know him by name but its that qari who is sitting on the floor reciting in front of the regime of saudi arabia, sure everyone has seen that video now. In fact it was featured on the dhikrullah ramadaan blog, well before everyone caught on. Anyways, now you can download another recitation of his..it sounds a litte different but maybe its cos its during salah and there isnt that echo effect but its definately him.

It was reported from Abu Qutaadah (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) was asked about fasting on the Day of ‘Arafaah. He said, “It expiates for the sins of the previous year and of the coming year.” [Muslim]

What a deal! As if being forgiven for the entire last year wasn’t enough, Allah is offering to forgive us for sins we have yet to even commit. It just requires a fast for the sake of Allah, a sincere fast and then inshaAllah we will have one year if sins forgiven and we get another free..*smiles*

Allah SWT says in Surah Hajj verse 28:

لِيَشْهَدُوا مَنَافِعَ لَهُمْ وَيَذْكُرُوا اسْمَ اللَّهِ فِي أَيَّامٍ مَّعْلُومَاتٍ

That they may witness things that are of benefit to them, and mention the Name of Allah on appointed days ..

As ya all know, the 10 days of dhul hijjah are upon us, starting today. Everyone knows about Dhul Hijjah and how they are important and how Hajj was performed and for some reason millions of people just happen to all meet at the same place every year and seem to walk around a lot..

But do we all actually realise how great these days really are? These are the BEST 10 DAYS OF THE WHOLE YEAR, EVEN BETTER THAN RAMADAAN!* Out of 365 days in the year, these 10 are the best. You know how when ramadaan comes, we all feel an emaan boost and everyone suddenly becomes mr pious, well it should be like that in these 10 days to and if it doesnt feel like that, we have to recheck our emaan.

Ahmad and at-Tabarani record from Ibn ‘Umar that the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) said, “There is no day more honorable in Allaah’s sight and no acts more beloved therein to Allaah than those in these ten days. So say tahlil (There is no deity worthy of worship but Allaah : Laa ilaaha illallaah), takbir (Allaah is the greatest : Allaahu Akbar) and tahmid (All praise is due to Allaah : alhumdulillaah) a lot [on those days].” [Muslim]

Just like in ramadaan we fast, pray more, read more Quran, do more good deeds in general, likewise we should also try to do that in these 10 days insha’Allah. And many of our parents give qurbani back home or whatever, but we should also try if we can t give a sacrafice feesabililah, theres a great reward in it. And also a reminder to fast on the 9th of Dhul Hijjah, that would as fasting on this day wipes out our sins for 2 years, the year before and the year coming.

* these 10 days are better than the last 10 days of ramadaan but the last 10 night if ramadaan are better as they contain laylatul qadr.

Thawban [radiAllahu anhu] said: I heard the Messenger of Allah [salAllahu alayhi wa salam] saying:

Perform salah more often. For every prostration that you perform before Allah will raise your position one degree and remit one of your sins [saheeh Muslim]

So all you gotta do is go down in prostration to Allah by praying and Allah will get you up and raise you in degrees. Its not that hard really, we should be going down in prostration a few times during the day as it is, just add a few more and you will be raised even higher in degrees inshaAllah. It should all make sense now and explain how what goes down must go up..*smiles*

Allah [subhanahu wa ta3la] says in Surah Tawbah:

إِنَّمَا الْمُؤْمِنُونَ الَّذِينَ إِذَا ذُكِرَ اللّهُ وَجِلَتْ قُلُوبُهُمْ

Indeed, the believers are only they whose hearts tremble with awe whenever Allah is mentioned

There is nothing more amazing than the lord of the universe and therefore everything connected to our Lord is automatically amazing. At the end of the day we all want to be the best of believers and the best slaves of Allah and here Allah is telling us what we should feel when he [aza wajal] is mentioned. All we have to do is keep improving our emaan until we get to the stage where we find the mention of Allah amazing. Once we reach this, we’re closer to being loved by Allah [subhanahu wa ta3la]. Its as simple as that, amazing or what? *smiles*
