..and this will only make you poorer

11 05 2008

..speaking of how charity will make us richer, we can actually get poorer aswell. We’ll probably also be wondering..”wheres my money gone?” if we deal with interest. We may feel like we’re making more money and gaining but in reality we’re in nothing but loss.

يَمْحَقُ اللّهُ الْرِّبَا وَيُرْبِي الصَّدَقَاتِ وَاللّهُ لاَ يُحِبُّ كُلَّ كَفَّارٍ أَثِيمٍ

Allah [subhanahu wa ta3la] says in surah Baqarah, verse 276: Allah will destroy Riba and will give increase for Sadaqat. And Allah likes not the disbelievers, sinners.

Allah [aza wajal] states that he destroys riba, either by removing this money from those who eat it, or by depriving them of the blessing, and thus the benefit of their money. So if we dont want to be poorer either in this world or the hereafter, then let us stay away from interest *smiles*

The Fatwah Police

13 01 2008

The fatwah police are a unit of Muslims who before you can say,”whats the ruling of..” they’ll shout HARAM. They’ll go around looking for islamic questions to answer with good intentions, however without the nesseccary qualifications or daleel to back up their claim. The fatwah police are not recruiting so don’t enroll yourself.

Allah SWT says in Surah Nahl; verse 116: And say not concerning that which your tongues put forth falsely: “This is lawful and this is forbidden,” so as to invent lies against Allaah. Verily, those who invent lies against Allaah will never prosper.”

Only say something is haraam or halaal if you have the evidence and you know the evidence and the opinion is supported by the ulema. Its very dangerous to fall into this trap of getting used to giving religious verdicts without knowledge, the Sahaba RH would dislike rushing to give fatawaah so why is it we rush around trying to give verdicts like its an emergency [unless it is of course]. And fair enough if its clear and known well established haraam such as alcohol etc. but people rush for minor things like if questioned if its permissible to eat with your right hand while reading a book with your left hand and riding a bike at the same time and you’ll get the fatwah police saying its haram cos the Prophet SAW didnt do it..or something.

We will all be questioned about what we say, imagine we said something accidently and this like I dunno, somehow made the guy commit suicide or or some other major sin or he refrained from something that was beloved to Allah SWT. Theres no harm in saying Allah knows best and asking them to ask the people of knowledge, we dont lose brownie points in the sight of Allah but in fact might gain some.

Its is narrated the Prophet SAW said:“Whoever was given a fatwaa with no proof, his sin will go back on the one who gave him the fatwaa.”

Just remember the next time you get your tongue out to give a fatwah: you have the right to remain silent. Anything you do say may be used against you in the court of Allah on the day of Judgement.
