This correction was often pointed out by my own shaykh, Mufti Sa'eed Palanpuri of Deoband. Fikar is the plural of fikrah, meaning a thought or idea. The title thus translates into "Selected Thoughts". Fikr, on the other hand, does not refer to specific ideas, but rather to thought as a general unassociated concept.
